Ms. Dilley
Welcome to United States History!  The goal of Canyon Hills Social Science Department is for students to gain knowledge of history, geography, economics, cultures, political systems, constitutional heritage and our ever-changing world.  Our hope is that they will use this knowledge to become responsible citizens.  In this class, students will learn about the major events preceding the founding of our nation, the political principles underlying the U.S. Constitution, and the foundation of the American political system.  They will also analyze the aspirations and ideals of the people of this new nation, analyze foreign and domestic policies, and analyze the divergent paths of the American people in the western, southern, and northern regions from the early 1800's to the mid 1800's.  We will end the year by learning about the multiple causes , key events, and complex consequences of the Civil War and the reconstructing of our nation.  I know we will have a fun and productive year!

Welcome to Honors World Civilizations!
This course is designed to be an introductory study of World Cultures.  You will be able to see that your culture has been affected by the other cultures of the world.  As citizens of the global village, you will recognize the interdependence of all nations of the world.  You will see that cultural borrowing takes place on a continual basis.  You will understand that while there are diversities, there are fundamental similarities in basic human activities and aspirations of all people.  We begin in Rome and visit the Middle East, Africa, China, Japan, and Europe.  We explore such time periods as the Renaissance, Reformation, Age of Exploration, Enlightenment and the Scientific Revolution.  It will be a great year traveling around the globe. Ciao!
